Mukhiya shot dead in Bihar

Madhepura, Bihar, Jun 27 (UNI) Kamleshwari Mandal, a newly elected Mukhiya of Shekhpur panchayat, was shot dead at Kathautia village under Bihariganj police station in the district during wee hours today.

Police said armed criminals attacked Mr Mandal while he was sleeping at his residence and opened fire killing him on the spot.

Political rivalry was stated to be the reason behind the iincident, police claimed.

Criminals managed to escape from the spot after the incident, police added.

Raids were on to nab the criminals.
