Mumbai, June 27 (UNI) Former crime reporter Ketan Tirodkar's bail hearing was today deferred till July 1 by the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) court.

Tirodkar, who himself argued for his bail plea for the last two days before MCOCA judge Mridulla Bhatkar, sought time during the day to further argue his case as he wanted to consult with some lawyers.

Tirodkar was arrested by the Mumbai police on July 9, 2004 under MCOCA act for his links with the underworld and had secured interim bail from this court on August 4, 2005.

However, Bombay High court had set aside this order earlier this month and he was taken into the custody by the MCOCA court, following which he had approached for regular bail.

Tirodkar had filed a private complaint during 2004 before the MCOCA court exposing encounter specialist Daya Nayak's alleged nexus with the underworld gang and also admitted his link with gangsters.

In his complaint he disclosed that he had acted as a conduit between gangster Chhota Shakeel and Nayak for bribes from the underworld for transferring police officers.
