'Reservation for weaker sections of high castes'
Dehra Dun, Jun 27: BSP supremo Mayawati today came out in support of reservation for the financially weaker sections from the high castes.
''The BSP not only advocates welfare of lower class but also caters to the welfare of upper castes and believes in providing equal opportunity to all,'' she said.
However, the party opposed the UPA government's proposal to implement the 27 per cent reservation Bill with effect from June next year, Ms Mayawati told reporters while calling it an important issue.
Coming down heavily on the Congress-led UPA government, she said its wrong financial policy had led to rise in inflation and 'office of profit' issue had resulted in instability at the Centre which may lead to mid-term general elections, while ruling out any possibility of any truck with the coalition in the near future.
Speaking on forthcoming assembly elections in three states, including Uttaranchal, she said the BSP would go it alone in the polls.
