Mahila Cong opposed to budgetary allocation for monument
Kannur, June 27 (UNI) The Communist Party of India (Marxist), which betrayed the Quit India movement and insulted freedom fighters, is now extolling the Punnapra Vayalar uprising as freedom struggle, Kerala Mahila Congress President Shanimol Usman said today.
Talking to mediapersons here, she said the Mahila Congress was opposed to the allotment of Rs 10 lakh in the state budget to convert the Vayalar struggle monument into a national museum.
After visiting the house of Ajitha, who was murdered by anti-scoial elements last month, she said though Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan had declared that prompt action would be taken against harassment of women, no action had been taken in two murder cases, including that of a nomadic girl, reported from the district.
The Mahila Congress today organised a dharna demanding arrest of the culprits.
