Litigation wings for each district of Punjab

Chandigarh, June 27 (UNI) Punjab Police have set up litigation wings in the 19 districts and five police districtsof of the state to monitor the progress of all important and sensitive cases that are being heard in the judicial courts.

State Director General of Police (DGP) S S Virk told reporters here today that a gazetted officer of the rank of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) will be in-charge of the wing in his district. It will monitor the progress of each important case and inform the state headquarters, he added.

The DGP said he had decided to form separate wing after the Jessica Lal case raised questions about police investigation and presentation of the case in court.
