K'taka HC dismisses bail plea of suspected extremists

Bangalore, June 27 (UNI) The Karnataka High Court today dismissed separate bail petitions filed by three accused remanded in judicial custody for offences under the Explosives Act.

The accused--Muthukumar alias Pandian and two others, in their petition, contended that they had been falsely implicated by the police and sought bail.

The trio had been taken into custody for allegedly possessing explosives and further the same was meant for carrying out some terrorist activities in the city and elsewhere. Muthukumar was alleged to have links with Tamil extremist outfits, like Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam.

Mr Justice Ajit-J Gunjal after hearing both sides dismissed the petitions, declining to enlarge them on bail.
