Patna, June 27 (UNI) Ruling JD(U) MLA Sunil Pandey, charged with creating ugly scenes at a hotel and threatening mediapersons, was arrested from his official residence and later released on bail.

Police Superintendent Kundan Krishnan said Mr Pandey was released on bail from the Gandhi Maidan police station itself after his arrest from his official residence last night.

Mr Pandey was charged with creating nuisance at a public place which was a bailable section of the Indian Penal Code, he added.

Mr Pandey had stayed in the luxury suite of the hotel for a night and created a ugly scene when the employees of the hotel asked to clear the bills.

The JD(U) leader, who was said to be drunk, had claimed that the hotel owed over Rs 47 lakh to him. But the management of the hotel refused to say anything on the issue.

Reacting to the episode, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar had said action would be taken against the MLA if the aggrieved persons lodged an FIR against him in this connection.

Gandhi Maidan police, however, had registered an FIR against the MLA for creating ugly scenes at a public place.
