Italy pair fly to Turin to see Pessotto
DUISBURG, Germany, June 27 (Reuters) Italy players Alessandro Del Piero and Gianluca Zambrotta left the team's World Cup camp today to visit Juventus team manager Gianluca Pessotto who is in a serious condition after falling from a window at the Serie A club's headquarters.
Former Juventus player Ciro Ferrara, a member of Italy's coaching staff, was to fly with Del Piero and Zambrotta on a private flight which would bring them back to Germany later this evening, Italian Football Federation press officer Barbara Moschini said.
Pessotto, 35, who played alongside Del Piero, Zambrotta and Italy captain Fabio Cannavaro for Juventus last season, suffered multiple fractures and internal bleeding but was in a stable condition, a medical bulletin released by the hospital said.
The former Italy international was found clutching a rosary having fallen some 15 metres from a dormer window in the building's roof, police sources said.
