Kolkata, June 27 (UNI) The Indus Entrepreneurs (TIE), a global not-for-profit organisation focussed on promoting entreprenership, today said it will showcase selected entrepreneurs from West Bengal by conferring them the first ever ''TIEGER Awards'' on July 28.

'' We have formed a panel comprising academicians, bureaucrats, industrialists and representatives of Indian Institute of Management (IIM) to select 16 entrepreneurs, who have prospered in West Bengal, '' TIE's president Shoummo Acharya said '' Out of the 16 entrepreneurs to be felicitated success stories of four persons will be showcased for the budding entrepreneurs in the region. Our effort is to foster the spirit of entrepreneurship in the region, '' Acharya said.

'' The award will be given to successful entrepreneurs--at least one each from the manufacturing, IT/ITES, social entrepreneurship and other categories, '' he said.

TIE, founded in 1992 in Silicon Valley by successful NRI entrepreneurs hailing mainly from the South Asian region, will also collaborate with schools and colleges to educate the future generation of taking up entrepreneurship as a career option.

TIE was also planning to work as a facilitator between the rural entrepreneurs and the financial institutions, the president said.
