Immediate enforcement of Cease-fire ground rules : Congress

Kohima, June 27(UNI) The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee(NPCC) today alleged that Home Minister Thenucho had failed to maintain law and order in the state.

Congress state president Hokheto Sumi expressed concern over factional feuds and gave a rough data to newsmen at a press conference here. He said at least 10 underground cadres and a civilian were killed and 22 injured in more than 15 factional clashes in various parts of the state in May.

He said the increase in factional clashes had deteriorated the law and order situation despite implementation of the Cease-Fire Ground Rules.

Factional clash is a state subject and the state government is its enforcing agency, he said and lamented that the NPF led DAN coalition government had 'miserably failed' to enforce the Cease Fire Ground Rules.

''If the government is unable to enforce the Cease Fire Ground Rules then it should bring a contingency plan to curb the deteriorating law and order situation in the state,'' he added.

''If the home minister is waiting for any amendment to the Cease Fire Ground Rules by the Centre and the underground groups then he should quit from the his post,'' he remarked.
