Heavy firing between Meghalaya police and militant outfit

Shillong, June 27 (UNI) Heavy firing took place between Meghalaya Police and militants of an Asom-based outfit in Khanduli area near the Meghalaya-Asom border late last night.

State Director General of Police William Richmond Marbaniang said here today that the incident occurred at 0100 hrs, when the ultras opened fire at a state police camp located at Khanduli in Jaintia Hills district.

He said none of the security personnel were injured adding that he did not know whether any of the ultras received any bullet injury or not.

Meanwhile, Jaintia Hills district Superintendent of Police H Nongpluh rushed to the site to take stock of the situation.
