Heavy firing between police, militant outfit

Shillong, Jun 27 : Heavy firing took place between Meghalaya Police and unidentified Asom based militant outfit at Khanduli area near the Meghalaya-Asom border area late last night.

State Director General of Police William Richmond Marbaniang said here today that the incident occurred at 0100 hrs, when the ultras opened indiscriminate fire towards a state police camp located at Khanduli in Jaintia Hills district.

He said none of the security forces were injured adding that he was not aware whether any of the ultras received any bullet injuries.

Meanwhile, Jaintia Hills district Superintendent of Police H Nongpluh had rushed to the site to take stock of the situation.
