Haryana to stress on power, infrastructure in 11th 5-year plan
Chandigarh, June 27 (UNI) Haryana would stress upon doubling the power generation capacity, upgrading the transmission system, setting SEZs, Petrochemical Parks and model townships during the 11th Five Year Plan period.
A spokesman of the Planning Department, after a meeting held yesterday for discussing the thrust areas to the 11th Five Year Plan, said the Industries Department would stress on setting up SEZs in the State, Petrochemical Park in Panipat, to develop two Industrial Model Township Faridabad and Sonepat and to build two Transport Hubs in public private partnership mode in the state.
The spokesman informed that stress would also be laid on doubling the generation capacity of power and the transmission system would be upgraded to carry 8000 MW of electricity during the next Plan period.
He said that emphasis would be laid on setting up of Rajiv Gandhi Education City, starting of new courses and soft skills scheme.
Sarv Shiksha Abhiyan Programme would be extended to secondary level and mid-day meal scheme would also be implemented in secondary level during the plan period.
The spokesman revealed the main thrust of the Irrigation Department would be the completion of SYL, Flood Control and Drainage works and construction of BML Hansi Branch-Butana Branch Multipurpose Link Channel. He said the Urban Development Department would stress on preparing city development plan, development of heritage areas and preservation of water bodies.
The PWD (B&R) Department would lay stress on high speed corridor project of State Highways, upgradation of major district roads, public-private partnership projects on BOT basis, road safety audit, identifing black spots and to keep the road users safe.
He said that priority would be given to modernisation of transport operations, development and upgradation of infrastructure through public-private participation, road safety and human resource development by the Transport Department during this period.
