Frequent landslides affects telecom connectivity in Arunachal
Itanagar, Jun 27 (UNI) The telecommunication services in the bordering states of Arunachal Pradesh have been snapped due to land slides caused by heavy rainfall.
Internet and mobile services have been affected severely today since morning as a major portion of the earth, along with big trees caved in between Bandardewa and Nirjuly, damaging the Optical Fibre Cable(OFC), the BSNL officials said here.
Officials said, the telecom services have been cut off from the rest of the world due to this. It was not a stray incident but a regular affair which occur round the year for various reasons like cable theft and natural disasters.
However, BSNL officials are pressed to restore the defunct services by evening.
BSNL has been facing several critism for its poor and erratic services since its inception in the state, a BSNL customer said.
Chief Minister Gegong Apang has asked the Chief General Manager of the organisation to restore the services immediately.
