England 1966 shirt fetches 38,400 pounds

LONDON, June 27 (Reuters) The shirt worn by defender George Cohen during England's 1966 World Cup final victory fetched 38,400 pounds (69,970 dollar) today when a German family sold it at auction.

Cohen swapped shirts with West German rival Lothar Emmerich after England's 4-2 win in the game.

An anonymous bidder bought the red number 2 shirt, which had been kept by Emmerich's family for 40 years. The player himself died three years ago.
