Dileep Padgaonkar, 3 others nominated to Minorities Commission
New Delhi, June 27 (UNI) The Government today nominated four eminent persons as members of the National Commission for Minorities (NCM), completing the panel's required strength of seven.
The new members are Dr. Dileep Padgaonkar, former Executive Editor of Times of India, Lt. Gen (Retd.) A.M. Sethna, former member in the 3rd&4th Commission, Prof. Zoya Hasan, Professor in Political Science, Centre for Political Studies, JNU and Mr Michael P. Pinto, retired IAS, member of the expert group of the twelfth finance commission.
They have been appointed for a period of three years with effect from the date of their assuming office.
With these appointments, a full commission is now in place.
The NCM had been reconstituted after the UPA government came to power. It initially had three Members, including Chairman Hamid Ansari. The two other Members were Mr Harcharan Josh and Lama Chosphel Zotpa.
