Delhi CM wants all public carriers in CNG mode

New Delhi, Jun 27: Delhi Chief Minister Shiela Dikshit has said her government aspires to convert all public carrier vehicles to Compressed Natural Gas mode as also expand the CNG usage in entire National Capital Region.

While releasing a book titled 'Complex Issues Management Strategies and Tactics', based on the case study of Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL) and the CNG revolution in Delhi, last evening she said ''CNG success story has become a part of history of Delhi. It has not only changes the face of Delhi but also the future of Delhi.'' Speaking on the occasion, GAIL (India) Limited Chairman and Managing Director Proshanto Banerjee elaborated other GAIL initiatives that had strengthened the health, safety and environment quotient of Delhi as a whole, including the recently launched Emergency Response Vehicle and the Air Pollution Related Disease Diagnostic Centre.

The complex issues involved during the introduction of the eco-friendly fuel, had been dealt in detail in the book sponsored by GAIL and written by IIM Kolkata Prof Ranjan Das and Ms Kajari Mukherjee of Organisation Dynamics.

The book dealt with understanding how complex issues, conceptualised as a system, emerge, what were their sources and how they evolve through interdependence between key constituents, which were collectively responsible for both the creation and resolution of complex issues. In order to make the subject easily understandable to the readers, the entire case concerning the conversion of diesel-run public transport buses to CNG had been discussed threadbare.

Using this case as a backdrop, the authors had provided a set of propositions that would be useful to managers and organisations in understanding complex issues and leveraging their knowledge to gain a competitive advantage.

The chief minister also inspected the recently launched ERV that had been conceptualised and designed at GAIL to cater to gas pipeline emergencies in the NCR region.

Additional Secretary with Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas Anil Razdan was also present at the occasion.
