Dacoits assault couple, loot valuables worth rs 2.5 lac

Belgaum, June 27 (UNI) An eight-member armed gang looted cash and gold ornaments amounting to Rs 2.5 lakh from a farmhouse near Kudachi town of Raibag taluk in this district today.

According to police, the gang attacked farmhouse owner Bhupal Patil when he came out to answer nature's call during early hours.

When he raised an alarm, his wife came out and she too was assaulted by the gang, police said.

Additional Superintendent of Police visited the spot and a dog squad was pressed into service. The dacoits were in the age group of 25 to 38 and conversed in Kannada and Hindi, police added.
