New Delhi, Jun 27 (UNI) The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) today clarified that it has not made any recommendations for books by private publishers for senior school curriculum for 2007 and 2008 examinations.

The Board said it had stopped the practice of recommending the textbooks of private publishers in several subjects, including Hindi and English, at senior secondary level from the academic session 2005-06.

''The board will initiate legal action against such publishers who claim their books to have been recommended by CBSE from the academic session 2005-06,'' the board said.

CBSE said it had come to the notice of the Board that some publishers were still selling the new edition of their textbooks by claiming CBSE recommendation given to them earlier.

''They are misleading the public for commercial gains,'' it added.
