Blake quells Pless to reach second round
LONDON, June 27 (Reuters) American James Blake matched his best Wimbledon performance by reaching the second round with a 6-3 7-5 5-7 6-4 victory over Danish qualifier Kristian Pless today.
Eighth seed Blake made the Queen's Club final nine days ago but grass is not his favourite surface and the eighth seed did not look entirely comfortable on court 18.
Pless shook the hard-hitting American by taking the third set but Blake recovered his rhythm to seal victory and will face Taiwan's Yeu-Tzuoo Wang in round two.
