Benq Mobile aims at three per cent of mobile handset market by 2007

Kolkata, Jun 27 (UNI) Benq Mobile, the wireless communication devices company, is aiming at three per cent of the mobile handset market in India by 2007.

'' We are looking at three per cent share of mobile handset market in India by December 2007, '' Benq India Managing Director Robert Dung told reporters.

Benq Mobile, part of the Germany-based Benq Corporation, will source its products from its manufacturing facilities in Germany, Taiwan and China.

The company's other manufacturing facilities are located in Denmark, Brazil, Mexico and Poland.

The company has no immediate plan to set up manufacturing base in India, Dung said.

'' We are studying the opportunities in the country and have no immediate plans to set up a manufacturing base here, '' he said.

Benq India, with five years of operations in India, today unveiled a slew of sleek 3G enabled Benq-Siemens branded handsets.

Benq Corporation, which recently acquired the Siemen's mobile division, had manufactured the technology friendly handsets with the help of engineers of Siemens.

Benq Corporation, which clocked a turnover of 13 billion US dollars in 2005, was aiming at 20 billion US dollar business this year.
