Beautification of Hazratbal shrine in Kashmir in full swing

Srinagar, June 27 (UNI) The beautification work of the Hazratbal shrine, housing the holy relic of Prophet Mohammad, in Kashmir is going on in full swing.

Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Basharat Ahmed reviewed the beautification work of the Hazratbal shrine and the adjoining areas at a high-level meeting here.

He visited the site where some residential houses were being dismantled to include the area in the shrine premises.

The Divisional Commissioner directed the authorities concerned to complete the dismantling process within a week.

The compensation process has almost been completed and the affected families have been identified for shifting to alternative sites, he added.

Mr Ahmed assured that efforts were being made to suitably accommodate the affected shopkeepers.

Interacting with the Divisional Commissioner, the locals demanded adequate cleanliness around the shrine and adjacent areas. They apprised him about the civic facilities in the area especially construction of toilets at Tailbal, which remains under heavy rush of tourists, school children and the locals.

Mr Ahmed assured that modern type of toilets would be constructed in the area for convenience of the people and sanitation would also be further improved.
