Assets worth over 25 lakh seized from ITO's residence

New Delhi, Jun 27 (UNI) Property and cash worth more than 25 lakh have been unearthed in searches by the CBI at the residence of Income Tax Officer S K Verma, posted at Yamuna Nagar in Haryana.

Verma was arrested on June 23 for accepting Rs four lakh bribe from a company owner, for showing favours to the complainant in an Income tax case, according to the CBI.

While Rs 15 lakh was recovered from two lockers, along with 200 grams of gold, Rs 66,000 was seized from his Yamuna Nagar residence.

Investment worth four lakhs and another Rs 3.5 lakh in a bank account were found in his name.

The accused has been remanded to judicial custody today.
