ASI nabbed for trying to molest American

Raipur, June 27 (UNI) A crime branch assistant sub-inspector has been arrested after he allegedly attempted to molest a 26-year-old US citizen in the Geetanjali Express, police said.

The victim was travelling from Tatanagar to Mumbai when she was targeted last night by Umendra Mishra, posted at Bilaspur.

As the woman raised an alarm, co-passengers of the air-conditioned two-tier coach manhandled the accused and handed him over to the police. Mishra was taken to Bilaspur where he managed to give the police a slip but was later rearrested.

A case was registered under section 354 IPC and 139 of the Railway Act.
