Afghanistan Foreign Minister to visit India

New Delhi, June 27: Afghanistan Foreign Minister Rangin Dadfar Spanta will arrive here on June 29 on a three-day official visit for discussions with Indian leaders on the latest security and political situation in the war-battered country.

This will his first visit to India after assuming office on April 20. He was earlier Advisor to Afghanistan President Hamid Karzai on International Affairs from January 2005 to April this year when he he took over as Foreign Minister, succeeding Dr Abdullah Abdullah.

Mr Spanta will be accompanied by Mr. Davood Moradayan, Senior Advisor, Mr. Amanullah Jayhoon, Director, 1st Political Department and Mr. Sultan Ahmad Bahin, Spokesperson.

Sources said India will also raise the matter of security for nearly 2000 Indian nationals who are working on various projects in Afghanistan.

India is one of the major contributors to Afghanistan's development.
