About 45 to 47 per cent polling until noon in UT

Pondicherry, June 27 (UNI) An estimated 45 to 47 per cent of over three lakh voters exercised their franchise by noon in the second phase polling to local bodies here today.

Polling has been peaceful so far peaceful, barring a minor confrontation between the DMK and AIADMK workers at a booth at Pethichettipet over alleged canvassing inside the booth. Police intervened and settled the issue.

Elections to the Pondicherry and Ozhukarai municipalities and Villianur commune panchayats are being held today.
