357 NGOs blacklisted across country : Raghuvansh Prasad

Hyderabad, Jun 27 (UNI) Union Rural Development Minister Raghuvansh Prasad Singh today said the government had filed criminal cases against 357 Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) and put them on the blacklist this year.

Speaking to reporters here, Mr Singh said the government had recovered Rs 22 lakh from blacklisted NGOs, which had misused the money released from the Rural Development ministry. The government would take stringent action against NGOs misusing money, he said.

CAPART Director General Ms Bina Rao said the funding agency to NGOs had changed the application and approval cycle to check corrpution and misuse of funds. 'We are monitoring the activities of NGOs very closely. CAPART is concentrating on basic rural development schemes'.
