Various Minority forum protests fatwa on Taslima

Kolkata, June 26 (UNI) Various minority groups today blocked the national highway protesting against ''fatwa'' on Bangladeshi author Taslima Nasreen by the Shahi Imam of the city's Tipu Sultan Mosque.

National Lawyer's Council secretary Idrish Ali said here that the Imam has no right to announce the fatwa, besides annoucing a cash reward for anyone who would blacken her face.

Meanwhile, nearly 30,000 people today blocked the National Highway 6 under Panskura police station area near Siddha village in East Midnapore district to protest the CPI(M)'s 'conspiracy' to demolish a mosque for expansion of the road.
