Teachers' dharna delays Delhi-Amritsar Shatabdi Express

Jalandhar, June 26 (UNI) The Amritsar bound Delhi-Amritsar Shatabdi Express remained stranded for about 40 minutes at the Jalandhar station today as the computer operators/teachers union held dharna and demonstration on the railway tracks.

Police said the demonstrators gathered at the station and blocked the tracks in protest against the government's alleged apathy towards their demands.

The authorities effort to persuade the demonstrators to clear the tracks proved futile. Later police intervened and used mild force to disperse the mob.

Meanwhile, the Shatabdi Express which was to leave for Amritsar at 1205 Hours remained stranded for about 40 minutes.

Later the agitating operators, teachers took a out procession in the city.
