TDP moves High Court against police
Hyderabad, June 26 (UNI) The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) president N Chandrababu Naidu today said the party had filed a writ before the High Court against police officials for alleged harassment and threatening of TDP cadres, who were campaigning for the civic polls.
(The petition is likely to come up for admission tomorrow) Addressing the press here, Mr Naidu said the police were foisting false cases against TDP leaders and activists.
Stating that 77,669 potential TDP voters' names were deleted from the electoral rolls in Guntur district alone, he questioned the Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy's clarification that only 22,000 voters were erased in the entire state Alleging that Congress leaders and MLAs were misusing government machinery to win the elections, Mr Naidu said Ministers were violating the code of conduct by conducting party meetings at government guest houses.
'Congress MLAs and ministers were distributing money and liquor to lure the voters in the villages', he added.
