Sonia visit fuels 'drought-politics' in Rajasthan
Jaipur, Jun 26 (UNI) Congress President Sonia Gandhi's visit to Rajasthan to assess the relief works has fuelled 'drought politics' in the state.
The state Congress unit, which was striving to convince Mrs Gandhi that the BJP government was not doing enough for drought relief, took her to affected villages in western Rajasthan where the National Rural Employment Guarantee Programme (NREGP) has not been implemented till now to prove that the BJP government is ignorant of the plight of the suffering people.
The Congress says there are not enough employment and no provision for protection of the livestock.
Mrs Gandhi, who visited the drought-hit Moolsagar, Damodara, Kanoi villages in Jaisalmer district today, reviewed the relief work being undertaken.
Speaking in Jaisalmer, Ms Gandhi said that the ruling BJP goverment is not making adequate arrangements to mitigate the sufferings of the people in the drought-hit areas and she had received a number of complaints regarding lacunae in the relief works.
