Sonia takes stock of relief works in Jaisalmer
Jaisalmer, June 26 (UNI) Congress president Sonia Gandhi today visited drought-hit Mulsagar, Damodara and Kanoi villages in Jaisalmer district to take stock of the relief work.
On her two-day visit to Rajasthan, Ms Gandhi reached Jaisalamer this morning around 0900 hrs and headed straight to Mulsagar village.
She inspected the ongoing relief work including digging of a drainage in the area. She spoke to women working there and asked them about their difficulties faced.
Ms Gandhi later visited the Damodara village where she inspected a cattle camp and reviewed the relief works. The women labourers urged her to get the National Rural Employment Guarantee Programme implemented in the village.
They told Ms Gandhi that they are able to get work for only nine days a month and also that they get 30 kg of inedible wheat.
Ms Gandhi later visited Kanoi and Sam village.
