Jaisalmer, June 26 (UNI) Congress president Sonia Gandhi today accused the Rajasthan government of not doing enough in drought relief work despite getting special Central aid and funds for the purpose.

While reviewing the drought relief works in Mool Sagar, Damodara, Kanoi and Sam villages in Jaisalmer districts, Mrs Gandhi told reporters here that despite the special central aid to the state goverment to handle the situation, the labourers are being given inferior quality food grains and are not even getting adequate days of employment.

Mrs Gandhi assured the labourers in Jaisalmer district that she would discuss the issue of implementation of National Rural Employment Guarantee Programme (NREGP) in their areas with the central government. She said the central government has no any prejudice in providing aid and funds for drought relief works, emphasising that all states are equal for the centre, irrespective of whether it is a Congress ruled state or not.

While enumerating the complaints received during the inspection of the relief works, Mrs Gandhi said the labourers complained most about inadequate work and inedible foodgrain.

Admitting to the increasing price index in the country, she said all efforts are being made to control the rise in prices of essential commodities.
