Sania hangs on to 38th, Paes moves up to 14th after Ordina triumph

New Delhi, June 26 (UNI) A pale shadow of herself in the second season, Sania Mirza clings on to her 38th place in the latest WTA Singles Rankings issued today.

The Indian teen, whose best performance this year so far has been reaching the third round of the DFS Classic in Brimingham, has 537 rankings points in her kitty as she kicks off her Wimbledon campaign against seventh seed and world number eight Elena Dementieva of Russia.

French Amelie Mauresmo continues to lead the pack with 3306 ranking points and is followed by the Belgian duo of Kim Clijsters (3159) and Justine Henin-Hardenne (2603) at the second and third spot respectively.

Among her compatriots, US-based Shikha Uberoi (168) slipped a rung to 166 while another Fed Cupper Ankita Bhambri (55.25) jumped 13 places to 350, according to information received here today.

Isha Lakhani (45.50) also made good upward move, leapfrogging 17 places to 386, while veteran Rushmi Chakravarthi (35.75) climbed 14 notches to 439.

In men's doubles, Leander Paes, thanks to his Ordina Open triumph along with Czech partner Martin Damm, moved up a place to 14th with 2305 rankings points while his estranged partner Mahesh Bhupathi (1770) is static at 24th.
