Rs 500 monthly honorarium to emergency detenues
Lucknow, June 26 (UNI) The Mulayam Singh Yadav government in Uttar Pradesh today announced it would give a Rs 500 monthly honorarium and free bus travel to political detenues of emergency era in the state from April 1, 2006.
The free bus travel in UP would be applicable along with a companion to all MISA (Maintenance of Internal Security Act) and DIR (Defence India Rule) detenues of emergency era.
Announcing this, at the conference of such surviving detenues on the occasion of the 31st anniversary of Emergency, Mr Yadav claimed the situation in the country at present was akin to that during 1975.
''The only work of the present Congress regime at the centre is to target the opposition parties particulary Samajwadi Party, while the party has failed to give respite to the common man just like during emergency,'' he asserted.
''Parties supporting the central government including the Left should take lesson as how much trouble would Congress create, if it secured a majority in general elections,'' Mr Yadav cautioned.
