Panaji, June 26 (UNI) Around 60 home guards and Civil Defence volunteers today participated in a rally which carried messages of ''No to drugs'' and 'live a healthy and happy life'' held to commemorate the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.

The rally, from Police headquarters to Calangute beach and back, was flagged off by Deputy Inspector General of Police N S Randhawa.

The participants carried flags, leaflets and posters spreading the message against the drug abuse and illicit trafficking.

The rally organised by the Home Guard and Civil Defence was received at Calangute by parliamentarian Shripad Naik, who appreciated the efforts of the organisers.

Not only the youngsters should be educated against the use of drugs but also parents should keep a watch on their children and study their behaviour, Mr Naik said.

Drug is deadlier than the poison resulting in a painful death, he added.
