Meghalaya to promote tourism in rural areas: Lyngdoh
Shillong, Jun 26 (UNI) In a bid to promote tourism in the state, Meghalaya government has identified 70 new tourist destinations.
State Tourism Minister Robert Garnett Lyngdoh informed the assembly here today that the state government has identified 33 tourist spots in East Khasi Hill district, followed by West Garo Hills district with nine, East and South Garo Hills districts with seven each, Jaintia Hills district with six and West Khasi Hills district and Ri-Bhoi district with four each.
Mr Lyngdoh informed the House that the process of identifying more tourist spots was on adding that the government was also planning to go on a massive promotion campaign.
The Tourism Minister said the government, have identified these 'circuits in association with the India Tourism Development Centre.
