Lamps to be lit to placate deity

Kancheepuram, Jun 26 (UNI) The Vazhakaruthu Eswaran Kovil at Addissalpettai, near here, will organise a unique festival of 'lighting lamps' continously for 16-weeks.

A temple release said today that the festival was being conducted to placate the deity as part of a ritual. It was believed that people who had pending cases in courts would win their cases if they visited the temple continuously for 16 weeks to offer prayers.

People from different strata of society were expected to visit the temple during the festival, the release added.
