Kerala proposes Metro Rail System in Capital: Minister
Thiruvananthapuram, June 26 (UNI) Kerala Transport Minister Mathew T Thomas today informed the Assembly that the government proposed to establish Metro Rail system in the Capital.
In a written reply to Mr K Muhammadunni Haji (IUML), he said the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation which had been authorised to submit a feasibility report after a proper study on the project would submit the report to the government soon.
On the proposed Metro Rail project in Kochi, he said the government had already accepted the detailed feasibility report, also prepared by the same company.
The report suggested that the 25-km-long rail to be implemented between Alwaye and Ernakulam Petta would be like the elevated light metro system, he added.
Mr Thomas said the Union Government had accepted in principle, the proposal to implement the Kochi Metro Rail project.
As the project was still in the processing stage, the government could not say when the work of the project would start, the Minister added.
