KEC Int'nl bags new orders worth Rs 198 cr

Mumbai, June 26: KEC International Ltd, a part of the Rs 9500 crore RPG Enterprises, has received new orders worth Rs 198 crore from the Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (PGCIL).

Informing the BSE, the Company said its scope of work in the first project includes supply and construction of approximately 200 km long 500 KV HVDC transmission Line from Ballia to Sultanpur associated with Ballia Bhiwadi System under POWERGRID System Development Project.

The line is to be constructed in Uttar Pradesh and in a plain terrain and the job is valued at Rs 114 crore and is scheduled to be completed by September 2008. The project is funded by the World Bank.

The second project includes supply and construction of 122 km long 400kV double circuit transmission line from Sagardighi to Purulia associated with Sagardighi Thermal Power Project. The line is to be constructed in West Bengal and in a plain terrain. The job is valued at Rs 84 crore and is scheduled to be completed by February 2008.

Announcing this, Mr. Ramesh Chandak, Managing Director of the Company said, ''KEC has showed its best ever performance in 2005-06.

KEC would continue to grow in both domestic as well as international markets by developing new markets, focusing on value-chain expansion and improving operational efficiencies.'' The Company is currently engaged in executing orders in various countries such as Abu Dhabi, Libya, Tunisia, Algeria, Iraq, Afghanistan, Oman, Zambia, Nigeria and Ethiopia.

In the domestic market, too, the Company is a leading player and is already executing various orders for state power utilities of West Bengal, Jammu&Kashmir, Uttar Pradesh and Powerlinks etc.
