Juily Joshi tops in Mumbai division SSC tests

Mumbai, June 26 (UNI) Juily Shankar Joshi of General Education Institute High School, Kalyan stood first in the Mumbai division Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examination, 2006 of the Maharashtra Board.

She scored 95.60 per cent marks, as per the results announced today.

Out of the 2,45,342 students who appeared for the examination, 1,91,975 students passed.

The total pass percentage in Mumbai was 78.25, even as the passing percentage of girls was 78.51, while that of boys was slightly behind at 78.01.

In Mumbai, 31,523 students excelled with distinction, while 58,351 students secured first class. In all, 75,639 students passed the second grade while 26,462 students got the pass grade.

Among the other meritorius students, Nikhil Dilip Palange of St Aloyasis High School, Nalasopara, stood first among the backward class students by scoring 93.86 per cent, while Saloni Sandip Parashurampuria stood first among the disabled students, by scoring 90.66 per cent. Shahaz Kadir Khan stood first among the students attending night schools, by scoring 78 per cent.
