Jatha to observe Maharaja Ranjit Singh death anniversary

Amritsar, June 26 (UNI) A 175-strong ''jatha'' today left for Pakistan to participate in a function at Lahore on June 28 to commemorate the 167th death anniversay of Maharaja Ranjit Singh.

The ''jatha'' led by Shiromani Gurdwara Prabandik Committee (SGPC) member Baldev Singh left by the Lahore-bound Samjautha Express from Attari.

In addition to the function at Lahore, the ''jatha'' will also visit the holy Sikh shrines at Panja Sahib, Nankana Sahib, the birthplace of Guru Nanak and Dera Sahib in Lahore.

The group will return on July five.
