ITC to invest Rs 1000 crore in West Bengal
Kolkata, Jun 26 (UNI) The ITC Limited is all set to invest Rs 1000 crore for the industrial rejuvenation of West Bengal by diversifying its business interest in the IT sector, besides, setting up agro-business and expanding its hotel business.
Briefing newspersons here today after holding a two-hour-long meeting with Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee to discuss the basic outlines of his investment proposal, ITC Chairman Y C Deveshwar said as part of Rs 1000 crore investment he had sought about 50 acre of land for setting up a IT hub somewhere near Kolkata, besides setting up an agro-based retail unit on another 20 acre of land.
" We also have a plan to expand our hotel business in West Bengal by adding another about 300 more rooms with an investment of Rs 315 crore, " he said.
" We also plan to modernise our Kidderpore factory with an investment of Rs 300 crore. We are also planning to set up a logistic hub in the outskirts of the city, " Mr Deveshwar said adding that he had sought help from the Chief Minister to fulfil his expansion programme in a time-bound manner.
