Indian Lok Sabha Speaker honoured in Hanover
Hanovar , June 26 (UNI) Indian Parliamentary delegation led by Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee was today accorded a warm welcome by the Lord Mayor of the city Hildesheim, Dr Kurt Machens.
Dr Machens, is the Chief administrator of one of the oldest cities in the world, located in the state of Lower Saxony, Germany.
Mr Chatterjee, accompanied by his wife Mrs Renu Chatterjee were accorded a rare honour of signing the Golden Book of the city of Hildesheim which witnessed many events in Europe that changed the course of world's history.
Later, the delegation was apprised of intricacies of urban governance and powers of the local bodies in urban areas in Germany.
The Indian delegation was also shown Germany's expertise in non-conventional energy when they visited an Agricultural Biogas Plant located near the city of Soltau.
The eight member delegation on a six-day visit to the country included Devendra Prasad Yadav, Mohan Rawale, Venkatesh Naik, Ram Singh Kaswan, Kalraj Mishra, Santosh Bagrodia and Nakul Das Rai.
