India'a first internet village comes up in Haryana

Chandigarh, June 26 (UNI) Hansdehar in Jind District of Haryana became today the first village in the country to have its website with its complete information.

Haryana Governor Dr A R Kidwai, in the presence of Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda and Education Minister Phool Chand Maullana, launched the website of the First Model Internet Village at Haryana Raj Bhavan today.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Kidwai appreciated the efforts of the NGOs in compilation of such data which would help the officers and the Government in being acquainted with rural problems and formulating plans for all round development of that area.

Giving details about the programme, Archana Bindusar, President, Samanvay.Com, an NGO involved in preparing the website, said the aim was to help make an analysis of the villages on various socio-economic parameters at a micro as well as macro level.

It would also help disseminating the information about various Agro-based Schemes and connectivity to the initiatives like Agros-Net and Agmark-Net.

She said the website contains entire information of the village which include its history, basic statistics, legislative and Government setup, complete Citizen Directory, religious places, tourist attractions, local facilities, transport facilities, ongoing development schemes, public announcements and village problems and suggestions had been included.

She stated that they also plan to include the information about the nearby villages on the Internet soon.
