Firing: PAC jawan still absconding, 2 jawans out of danger

Varanasi, June 26 (UNI) The 'mentally ill' PAC jawan, who shot dead two of his colleagues and wounded three others in the naxal infested Naugarh area of adjoining Chandauli district yesterday, is still at large.

Chandauli police superintendent Rajiv Chaturvedi told UNI over phone today that Lakshman Ram, the jawan of 26th PAC Battalion's H Company, who opened fire at the PAC camp in Aurawa Tand is still to be arrested.

Two police teams were combing the jungles to nab the absconding jawan, Mr Chaturvedi added.

Meanwhile, two of the three PAC personnel wounded critically in the attack and later admitted to Banaras Hindu University (BHU) hospital here were stated to be out of danger.

While Shivdhari Thakur and Akhilesh Prasad were out of danger, Moti Lal's condition was still critical.

Two security personnel including Daya Ram Yadav from the Uttar Pradesh Arms Police and PAC jawan Jogindar Saroj were killed in the firing by Lakshman at the PAC camp.
