DYFI stages ''rail roko'' on fuel price hike

Thiruvananthapuram, June 26 (UNI) The Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI), a CPI(M) youth outfit, today staged ''rail roko'' agitations in Kerala in protest against the recent hike in prices of petrol and diesel, disrupting rail traffic.

Many long running trains were delayed as the DYFI activists squatted on the tracks from morning.

In Kollam, the agitation turned into a sombre occasion as 14 activists suffered an electric shock when the poles carrying flags came in contact with live overhead wires.

The injured were rushed to the Thiruvananthapuram Medical College.

In state capital here, the Nethravathi Express was delayed for more than an hour. It resumed its journey after the police removed the activists from the tracks.

A report from Kochi said the Delhi-bound Mangala Express was also delayed. Similar agitations were reported from Alwaye and other railway stations across the state.
