CITU calls strike in Orissa on Jun 30 to protest Nalco disinv
Kolkata, June 26 (UNI) The CITU has called for a general strike on June 30 in Orissa to protest the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance(UPA) government's move to disinvest 10 per cent equity of Orissa's public sector enterprise Nalco.
CITU has also called an indefinite strike from July 4 in Tamil Nadu's Neyeli Lignite Corporation (NLC) and August 4 in NMDC.
''We have urged all the central trade unions to join the indefinite strike in front of Tamilnadu's NLC and NMDC units,'' Centre of Indian Trade Union (CITU) general secretary Kali Ghosh said in a statement here today.
He said the trade unions would organise protest rallies in front of all the central government offices on June 30 in the first phase and July 5 and 7 in the second phase.
''We have also instructed all the trade unions to send telegram to the Prime Minister to stop disinvestment of NALCO, NMDC and NLC,'' Mr Ghosh said.
