Citizens celebrate Shahu Maharaj's 132nd birth anniversary

Kolhapur, June 26 (UNI) A large number of people paid tributes to social reformer and erstwhile ruler of Kolhapur princely state Rajarshi Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj on the eve of his 132th birth anniversary here today.

District Guardian Minister Harshwardhan Patil, political leaders and social workers visited the birth place of the Rajarshi at the Kasaba Bavada suburb and offered prayers while garlanding his portrait, earlier in the morning.

Later, city Mayor Ms Sai Kharade garlanded the life size statue of Shahu Maharaj at Dasara chowk.

Various functions are being held in the city and across the district to mark the anniversary of Rajarshi.
