Thiruvananthapuram, June 26 (UNI) The Kerala State Private Bus Owners' Federation will observe one-day fast before the State Secretariat on July three urging the government to find a permanent solution to the crisis facing the bus industry.

Talking to mediapersons after the Federation state-committee meeting here today, its president Khalid Mundappilly said that the Federation would go on an indefinite strike if the government failed to take immediate action in this regard.

He said the Federation had submitted to the government a 14-point charter of demands, including reduction in sales tax on diesel to 12 per cent and fixing of student concession to 50 per cent.

Mr Khalid said it was very difficult to go ahead with the business because of frequent price-hike of diesel and other petroleum products.

The meeting also urged the government to issue necessary orders recognising transport as an industry and constitute a permanent regulatory authority as had done by other states.
